Development
The process of developing a project begins with the Client. In the initial meetings we review existing conditions, assess requirements, and discuss aspirations. I encourage Clients to introduce images and ideas that reflect their hopes for the final project — not to act as blueprints but as inspiration to help me realize their vision.
From that point I begin to develop the plans and elevations taking into account flow and accessibility, resolution of interfaces, and a cohesive vision for detailing always considering the wishes of the Client. Drawings, specifications, and blueprints are the most valuable tool a Designer has to communicate and clarify the design.
The inadequacy of drawings and specifications can lead to awkward and costly miscommunication between the Client, the Designer, and the Contractor. A clear and cohesive set of drawings, specifications, and blueprints is the most effective way to ensure comprehensive bidding — thus limiting change orders and cost overruns.
